THE APOTHECARY 27 COLLECTION

Born from years of conversations at the counter — purposeful ingredients, meaningful doses, and formulations we're proud to put our name to.

Many customers ask me, "Why did you start making your own supplements?" The honest answer: we wanted to know, with absolute certainty, exactly what goes into them.

We champion every brand we stock — only the very best the health and wellness world has to offer ever finds its way onto our shelves. But there have been times when I've looked at a supplement and thought, "This is great — but if I were formulating it, I'd add a little more of X, change the strength of Y, or leave Z out." When I plan a product, I start by asking what its true purpose is, identify the non-negotiable ingredients, and include them at doses that mean something. A formula will often go through dozens of iterations before it feels right.

Here's the collection as it stands.

Magnesium

Where it all started — our flagship, and by far our top-selling product. We combine two of the best-absorbed forms of magnesium, citrate and bisglycinate, rather than chasing a big number on the label with cheaper, low-absorption forms. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal psychological function, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue

Vitamin D

A considered 2,500 IU of vitamin D, derived from lichen — a partnership between fungi and algae — which makes it suitable for vegans. Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the maintenance of normal bones, teeth and muscle function. A dose designed to help maintain levels year-round; for those wanting less in the summer months, it can be taken every other day.

Iron Complex

Formulated around one idea: iron that's properly absorbed and properly tolerated. We use iron bisglycinate — a gentle, well-absorbed form — at 30 mg per capsule (214% NRV). Iron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, normal oxygen transport in the body, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. We've paired it with vitamin C, which increases iron absorption, and vitamin B12, which contributes to normal red blood cell formation — the reason we affectionately call it our "Vegan Complex."

Liposomal Vitamin C

Most vitamin C is water-soluble and passes through the body quickly. Liposomal vitamin C binds it to a lipid, so more is delivered into the cells and stays there longer. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and normal collagen formation. A small amount of rice flour keeps the naturally sticky formula from clumping — one of those fillers that earns its place.

Ashwagandha + Lemon Balm

Two botanicals with long traditions behind them. Ashwagandha has been used in the Ayurvedic tradition for centuries, and we've paired it with lemon balm — a soft, lemon-scented herb long grown in English gardens and valued since the Middle Ages, one many of you may have growing at home. We chose the pairing for the way these two plants have historically been used together, and it's one we're proud to put our name to.

Immune Complex

The product that took longest to formulate. Rather than pack a capsule with tiny amounts of everything, we focused on a small number of considered ingredients — the ones the Apothecary 27 team return to, drawn from long traditions of use through the winter months. A modest, deliberately edited formula rather than a kitchen-sink one.

Mushroom B Complex

When I think of a B complex, I think first of energy — and the B vitamins here contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. We've built them around organic Lion's Mane and cordyceps, two mushrooms with long histories in traditional Eastern practice, included at sensible levels with room to breathe rather than at showy megadoses.

Organic Lion's Mane

If there's one mushroom people ask for by name, it's Lion's Mane — one of the most talked-about mushrooms in the shop, with a long heritage in traditional Eastern herbalism and, more recently, a place in the kitchen too. We source ours organic, and it also features in our Mushroom B Complex.

We're always looking to expand the collection, so tell us what you'd love to see next. Come and find the full range in store at Apothecary 27, Haslemere, or explore it online.
